First stop.
Grindle was pleased.
Very cozy bed.
Last bit of luxury for a while.
And warmth.
Snowy from my window.
Doug taught me to cover the bike.
You aren't tempted to take what you can't see.
The real draw....the pool!
Beautiful gardens.
Quite the story of unrequited love.
I won't bore you with a ton on interior photos but I did love this black marble fireplace.
And a little bit of taxidermy.
OK OK, one more. Cool finial.
Well shoot, all the photos loaded, might as well post them.
Not sure why I got so fascinated by this tree.
Walked over to Shadowfax (the meaning of haste) winery.
A little blurry. Why you ask?
\
Marco took good care of me.
Maybe too good.
First route.
Decided to take a short cut.
Short cut turned into gravel, then sand, then mud, then deep ruts, then puddles (not to be confused with Puggles), then a water crossing.
But found this neat bridge.
Snowy behaved admirably.
I'm so grateful to be on another Triumph Tiger.
I know this bike well and thanks to my friend Paul have ridden some tricky roads with my first one.
A very capable off road bike and the triple is a wonderful sound when the music runs out.
I love birds.
This one would wag it's tail feathers like a dog.
This is the pretty valley I skipped with aforementioned short cut.
Rode this last year with King Bob and thought about dad a lot.
Took a side road to the moaning caves.
Short walk from car park.
For non-riders I will share a short story.
There was no one else parked.
30+ spaces open.
Where did the one idiot park?
Right in front of the Tiger facing out to leave.
Making me back up.
Oh and there is no reverse on motorcycles.
Idiot. Wish I had a grease pen to write on his windshield.
Port Fairy.
Found a quirky hostel.
Build by the founder of the town, Rutledge.
Slept in a converted stable.
Cold.
Grindle took my hot water bottle.
The whole town is on well water which apparently tastes horrible.
So they had a separate spout for rain water.
Off to Halls Gap but not before checking out these crazy people surfing!
Heavy clouds will follow me a long time.
First glimpse of Halls Gap.
Should have turned around...
There is a kookaburra in that tree.
See if you can find it.
Still trying to get a kookaburra ring tone on my blue tick phone.
After getting to Halls Gap I checked the forecast and figured I could miss some of the rain and get to Mount Gambier and another amazing indoor pool!
Needed two lockers.
Boots and helmet didn't fit.
Final stop of the day.
Penola.
Why?
Small town.
Stayed at a roadside motel where the burn mark of an iron should explain it all.
What is that I am holding?
It's a door stop alarm.
It felt like that kind of place.
But comfortable bed.
Quiet.
Full plate of over cooked lamb smothered in some dark gravy.
It will do.
Next stop. Kangaroo Island....which has more than just kangaroos.
